Great Ape House

This project breathed new life into the content and design of an exhibition close to many visitors’ and staff members’ hearts. Visitors feel a connection to the zoo’s gorillas and orangutans because they’re “so much like us.” New interpretation builds on that connection by pairing educational and interactive experiences with messages to inspire protection of these animals and their habitats. New graphics introduce color into the space and complement existing horticulture, increasing the forest look and feel inside the building and the surrounding yards.

As Exhibit Developer at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, I led the content development for this project, which opened in October 2016.
